Shots and Needles

When babies get their shots it's never easy on Mommy. She knows that the vaccines ultimately protect her baby. But to hold your baby down while someone else (not that I would want to do it) sticks her with a needle three or four times, will break your heart. I didn't cry but in my opinion, the process seemed to take forever.

But as I am holding my baby down waiting for the nurse to finish so I can scoop my baby up, where is my husband? In the corner taking pictures and videos.

Here is a picture and video from October, 2 months shots.

And again at 6 months.

So at nine months when the doctor wanted to do a blood test to make sure all was well, Kevin was once again snapping away.

Poor thing has no idea what is coming.

Then to add insult to injury, he missed the vein and had to move the needle around a little to find it again. I had to close my eyes to compose myself.

And then we sported our crocodile tears. She really was a trooper and if we hadn't been past nap time probably would have bounced back quickly.
She is slightly anemic, as I was as a child, as well as during pregnancy, so I wasn't surprised when the doctor call with the test results. We'll up our iron a little and test again in a few months.

  1. I'm surprised to see them taking blood from her arm. At Isaiah's 9 month they checked for low iron by taking blood from his finger. We had to get the iron drops. No matter how they find out, it is sad for everyone. :(
