I got flowers for Boss's Day. Made my day. I really do feel appreciated.
So I looked up the "holiday" online to determine if it was Boss's Day or Bosses Day. The web listed both. Hallmark listed Boss's Day. Does anyone know which is correct? I missed that grammer lesson.
Grammar is not my forte, but... Boss's day would mean the "day" for one boss.
ReplyDeleteBosses' Day would be for multiple.
Some other English Prof. correct me if I'm wrong.

How nice of them to get you flowers :)
ReplyDeleteEscrow closes on our house on Oct 31! I can't believe it. I guess that means I should start packing...blah
I believe Boss's day would be the day that belongs to the boss (the apostrophe shows possesion.) Bosses day would be a day for more than one boss.

Hey Bekah. I just taught this to my fifth graders (the only reason why I know... I HAD to refresh. Ha)
ReplyDeleteIt should be boss' say. Plural possessive (the day for many bosses)..
have a great day!
